Ahh yes, it was a blast. Joe put on one smoking show! This was, by far, the best concert performance by a pure guitarist I had ever witnessed. The State was at capacity (2200) and Joe even remarked on how it was gratifying to come from a full house performance in London to a full house performance in Minneapolis (he joked about having only a crowd of 15 at his first gig at the Cabooze Bar.)
I'm not sure how to put into words what I saw. Probably the best way to put it is, now I understand why the words "Clapton is God" was etched around the UK in the 60's. When a blues guitarist shares his God given talent with you, it's a purely emotional experience. The performance was also augmented by the occasional hoots and whistles by the crowd during quieter portions of songs. This wasn't disrespect or distraction, this was the crowd providing Joe an instant emotional feedback while he played. He was in his zone while he played and I'mHe clearly enjoyed it and stated near the end of the show that he was "honored and blessed" to have performed for us.
Something I truly appreciate about Joe is he is a total professional on stage. The show was scheduled to start at 7:30 and right on the '30' mark of the clock, the lights went down and Joe took the stage. He then performed for a solid 2 hrs 20 min with no break, no chatter, no interruptions and most songs rolled from one into the other. This has the effect of capturing your attention for long periods and does not allow you to daydream, or wonder when the show is over. It's this professionalism that makes me short when it comes to artists who stop songs because they forgot the words and are too chatty between songs.

I'll excuse certain Scottish female singers but that is all.
One interesting development is that I posted a big kudos on Joes Facebook fan page. This morning, I got a Friend Request from Joe's personal page. He then "liked" my photo of the marquee that I posted last night. I don't think too many artists would encourage this sort of contact with their fans! I also found out that he is highly accessible around his motorcoach before and after the show. Wish I knew that before.
