Day 2, Southampton: Well, my friends, last night was memorable…if for no other reason that I nabbed a set list and KT signed it for ST after the show. I’m so good to my fellow Seattleites! A few highlights. Sam is looking older and Arnulf grew a biker mustache. Oh the music? After 13 KT concerts (17 after this week) on two continents, I feel I’ve earned the right to share a few thoughts keeping in mind, of course, we’re talking about the most talented singer/songwriter/musician on the planet at the moment. Besides, we Americans always give our opinions when no one asks or cares! As my pals no doubt recall, I’ve had a difficult time warming up to the backup singers since they came aboard. Maybe if the three of us went out for drinks together…. I know, it’s my problem and I really should talk it out with a professional. Seriously, while they do add depth to several songs especially from Drastic Fantastic, I cannot understand why KT has them performing on others. I’m sure they’re wonderful gals and I wish them all the success in the world, but they should sit out the acoustic version of Universe & U, for example. It simply cannot be improved! Let’s not even go to “Throw Me a Rope.” Also, the mixing, especially of backup vocals, seems inconsistent from show to show. It may have something to do with the acoustics of the different venues, but there’s more to it. I just don’t know the technical lingo to describe it any better. Today… a bit of work, fix a flat tire (no kidding), sightseeing, and then KT (again) in Southampton. I guess I’ll keep going. I told KT last night I’m here this week representing the hopes and dreams of Team America. She is truly appreciative…as always. We’re all lucky to have crossed paths with her in this lifetime. Her talent is eclipsed only by her class and sincerity.
