Now i'm pretty damn sure i posted a thread about this UNIQUE lady :D but a search shows nothing! :?

BUT - a source has advised me that some threads got lost, so that may have well been one of them! :x

Leslie Feist (that’s her full name) was born in Calgary, Canada in the mid 1970's. Initially inspired by punk when she was younger, Feist then moved into more of a Rock Scene. heavy touring resulted in a critical strain on her voice and she was told she would never sing again!!! :o

She moved cities and holed up in Toronto where she regained her focus and started on the guitar and 4-track. Experimental natural pop was born.

A combination of different medical advice and cross section of inspiration was the cause of the incredibly eclectic debut album 'Let It Die' !!

I've been lucky enough to see Feist live and i can honestly say she is pretty much the most unique performer i have seen!

The album (Let It Die 8) ) is a must buy and if you get a chance to see her live TAKE IT!!! :D :D :D

I took this one myself at the ULU gig in London

Hahaha you ain't the first this time Mass! I'm sure it was Padster who recommended Feist to us a wee while ago, she's really great though! Such a delicate, girly voice...............noticed that Lacoste are using "Mushaboom" as the music for their new Aftershave ad :?

Anyhoooo congrats on another fine reccy!

I think I heard Mushaboom on the ad, I was gunna find out what song it was. Anyway I had a listen and I love it. I heard Inside and Out as well, which I like a bit less... But yep she sounds goodo.

Let It Die is an extraordinary album, although I do think it is slightly patchy. Still well worth it though.

I first heard Feist on the Kings of Convenience album Riot On An Empty Street (another FANTASTIC band) and she has an amazing soulful voice. I bet she is really good singing live.

was certainly a surprise to hear that Feist had let Mushaboom be used for an ad, as she's not really that kind if artist - but then it is for lacoste and with her living in Paris and her Affinity with france, i can understand it :D

i do understand what you mean - but being the BIG fan i am, i would substitute the word patchy with the words 'very eclectic'...the album does tend to lead you all over the place!

as you say - VERY worth it! :D

she really is AMAZING live!!! :o :D

she is one of those artists that can actually turn around the weaker songs on the album when you hear them live!! 8)

she is also just as eclectic in her visual performance as she with her music!

a MUST see! :D

Just noticed this thread...

I love Feist :D

Mushaboom is of course one of the best. I happen to have some live version of Leisure Suite and Gatekeeper that are absolutely fantastic :D
