Hi! :smt006

Let's talk about Jean Michel Jarre... great French musician...

In my opinion, "Oxygene" is "the" masterpiece of electronic music!

But my favourite track is "Chronologie part 4" WOW! The videoclip is fantastic!

Unfortunately, he never came to South America to give a concert... but he has many Chilean fans... that's my little hope... I would like to see him performing at 9 de Julio avenue in Buenos Aires...

I have seen some concerts on TV and Youtube... Did you see him live? His concerts are awesome and massive!

Thanks :smt023

Mauro

Jean Michel Jarre is my fave artist EVER!

I own some of his albums (including Oxygene, Equinoxe, Chronologie and so on). I was lucky enough to see him live on November 2008 (his Oxygene 30th Anniversary tour). At the end of this concert I was at 10m from stage :)

I think his early stuff is brilliant, then it becomes patchy after 1986's Rendezvous (which itself is quite underrated).

Chronologie had its moments, definitely.

...Surely he would have been more inspired by Tangerine Dream?

Hi guys! :smt006 Thanks for your replies...

Alin... you' re so lucky... only 10 m? Wow! :smt023

I agree with Andy... First Jarre musical times had the style of Tangerine Dream (for example Oxygene and Equinoxe albums...) Later he changed style and sound (Magnetic Fields, Zoolook, Rendez Vous...)

I agree with Eric too... Last times were not very good for Jean Michel... in my opinion, his last good album was "Oxygene 7 - 13" (1997)... After that, he turned into a "dance" style... Many fans were disgusted with "Aero" and "Teo & Tea" (this last one was a commercial failure, at least in my country)...

Despite of that, Jarre is awesome! Vangelis too! :smt023

Thanks

Mauro

I'd forgotten about Teo & Tea! Let's just say the sleeve designs were the best thing about that album/single.

I did however quite like Aero.

Yeah!
I must add it was on his Oxygene 30th Anniversary Tour and he played in small venues (around 5000-6000 people). I will never forget that concert!

After Oxygene 7-13, he didn't release anything memorable (maybe except Metamorphoses). Geometry of Love was great but not his style. Let's hope after this Oxygene anniversary tour/album, he will return to his classic signature sound (of course updated) and make another masterpiece.

New current World Tour... "In-Doors World Tour 2009 - 2010"... :D

I hope it is a real "world tour", and he comes to South America for the first time (and Argentina of course)

^^ I HATE YOU...

:p :p :p

Enjoy it! Thanks for the videos! :smt023

But i have a little illusion... Some weeks ago, JMJ wrote this on his blog (after mother's death):

Quote:
A lot of things are in store for the second part of the year… Because of what happened to me recently, I decided to go not to far away from home this year. A lot of concerts in France, UK and other countries in Europe and going to the US, South America and Asia in 2011. My agent came to Athens and we made quite precise plans about all this.
