I've heard a couple of her songs and i really like them but i've also read that she tents to be a bit of a mess when she's on stage.

Soundwise or in looks? Either way, messy's good!

I haven't actually seen a video or her performing, but i think it had to do more with the way she handles herself on stage no much about the sound.

I'm in love with her atm, I saw her open for city and colour in January and I was blown away. She is a bit of a spaz on stage but I absolute love it  :p

Anyway new video for When I'm Alone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i7jNwv_3oc :mrg:

Yeah it's good.
Not sure I'm 'in love' enough to pay to watch her live but I'm sure it'd be good if I did.

Post subject:  Lissie - Catching A Tiger (2010) reviews

It would be easy to misconstrue Lissie. Slight and blonde, a pretty, guitar-playing slip-of-a-thing, you might easily take her for a sweet Midwestern girl, a freckled balladeer borne of milk and cookies and cornfields. More fool you. For all the flaxen hair and big blue eyes, this girl is smart and gutsy and tough, with a big old voice to match it. In the spring of 2006, she moved to LA and started her own night with musician friends at a bar called Crane's Hollywood Tavern in her neighbourhood, which she named Beachwood Rockers' Society. Little by little things seemed to come together; she recorded a five-track EP named 'Why You Runnin' with her friend Bill Reynolds of Band of Horses that caught something of a fire in the States last year. She headed to Nashville to record with Jacquire King [Kings of Leon]. What came out of it was the bulk of her debut album, 'Catching A Tiger', 12 songs that range from bluesy-folk to unfettered pop and showcase both her remarkable voice and her songwriting chops.

Thanks for joining the forum to spam the site with Lissie pr guff!

Just listened to the album and it's not as good as I expected going by the two live sets I've caught and the songs I knew already.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it after a couple more listens though.

I have a tremendous amount of time for Lissie. I saw her play a short set at the Dot To Dot festival in Nottingham and I have her EP and album now. Totally agree on the Stevie Nicks comparison with her voice, although I think she has more scope to do stuff that Stevie Nicks hasn't really done. Some of the more Gospel-style songs showcase that a bit. Here's one from when I saw her:

That's 'In Sleep' which most reminds me of Fleetwood Mac from her songs. Even Eric Sullivan on lead guitar is going through a fair few Lindsey Buckingham lead phrases! Lovely to see.

I also have a photo with her where she looks like my pet.

I don't get it. Her songs aren't that good and she sounds a bit like Sarah Barellis or whatever that other female singer from America's called.
