I seriously do not get the Stevie Nicks comparisons. She sounds NOTHING like her! It's a rather unpleasant, typically-modern vocal style she has....like Marina & The Diamonds or, yeah, Sara Bareilles or something. I can hear some Mac influence in the music itself - When I'm Alone has that Rumours-era mellow chug to it, but I'm sorry...that voice ruins it.

Lissie's voice does not sound like Sara Bareilles, Marina Diamandis or Stevie Nicks. I think the comparison with the latter is valid if it is to do with musical and compositional similarities. No-one sings like Stevie for goodness sake!
It's such an injustice when unqualified people dismiss an artist because they don't like their singing voice.
Firstly it only fractionally contributes to a song, secondly it is mainly down to what one was born with and thirdly, composing a song both musically and lyrically is a hell of a lot more important creatively than having a nice voice.

Am I an unqualified person? :smt017 What qualifies someone to make a comment on a singer> Do you have to be a singer yourself..or...?

If you're a singer, who has a grating singing voice, and is then marketed as being like other singers with very different qualities to their voice, you're setting yourself up for a fall.

Saw her at a free music festival in Sheffield called "Tramlines". She was quite good, she impressed me. :D

Sorry, I've only just seen this! Anyway, yes I can show you. I'm not sure how agreeable Imageshack is with forums so I'll provide the link:

Saw her again in December, seriously love this lady. I didn't see her as being messy on stage, she just is who she is, plays her songs and doesn't have to glam up or dress up what she does. Her and her band are super-nice people as well. Very much looking forward to seeing her again!

Meanwhile I'll use this occasion to express my love for her again: she's AWESOOOOME! :smt007

I read the frontpage feature she did in a Sunday magazine supplement a few weeks back; aside from the seriously lovely photos in that piece, she came across as very engaging.

TBC.

Saw her again in Amsterdam recently with Kimothy and Teena - top night! Sadly it looks as though other than festivals she won't be gigging in the UK for a little while as she's conscious that we got a lot of her attention last year and it's time for other countries to see her. Hope she comes back soon though!

She moved back here to the Midwest about 2 years ago, so all of us Lissie fans here have been getting a bit spoiled! :mrg:
She did 2 shows here last year, and for the past several months she's been doing a residency here in Minneapolis, with one more show coming next week! :D
With how many times I've gotten to see her, I may be getting a bit smitten... :smt007 :smt007 :smt007
