Anyone else like her?

She's really good I think. All kinds of different influences going on. Bit of Joni Mitchell, i think some of it sounds a bit Fiona Apple-ish...some people mention a bit of a Carole King thing going on.

I just think she's great. I loved her first album, but her new one, Fires, is even better.

Great lyrics and memoarable tunes.

She's got a profile on myspace where you can listen to a couple of her songs. She's well worth checking out.

This was from the Independent's review of her latest album...

Quote:
Nerina Pallot is a classic Anglo-American singer-songwriter, her English, French and Indian heritage less significant - or less discernible, at any rate - than her adoptive American influences, chief of whom is Joni Mitchell. The effect is most brazenly noticeable on "Sophia", which borrows Joni's inflection, chords and confessional tone wholesale

...so it's not just me that can see the influence :D

There are also some sound clips on her official website http://www.nerinapallot.com

she supported Missy Higgins at her gig at the Islington Academy!

very nervous and she was honest enough to say she was very drunk!!!

very hard gig for her as the venue was FULL of Aussies (i love em!!! :D  ) who were there to see Missy, they gave her a bit of a tough time!

all in all, pretty good.

Bought her album a couple of weeks ago on the strength of one song, and I'm pleased to say I really liked it! The first song is my fave so far, really tight with great lyrics! And Idaho is really pretty. Her voice reminds me of someone else but yet has its own uniqueness! A great album!

Nerina's new CD Fires is just amazing. Not since KT's album has an album been so addictive. Her work with Wendy Melvoin on track 3 "Damascus" is fantastic. Nerina's voice is so beautiful and she's a lyrical genius too. Check her out.

She's supporting Paddy Casey on his tour which starts on Tuesday, in Liverpool.

Yay! So hopefully I will get to meet her as well, which she has promised that she will come out and sign stuff once she's done her set!

Thanks for the recommendation - not the first I've received for Nerina I might add.

Yay again as I got both my CD booklets signed. If anyone is going to see Paddy Casey on tour, it is well worth getting there in time to see Nerina. She's ace! :D

She added me on Myspace. I've heard the stuff on there and I quite like. She's a very polite lady too.

Yeah, she added me a bit ago and I think its great how she seems so genuinely happy that people like her music. Much like how KT finds the time to come and look on here and post the odd message to us all when her busy schedule permits. :D

I just can't believe how fantastic Nerina's Fires CD is. I have played it so many times this last fortnight. Sophia and Nickindia have become my fave tracks. How amazing is her voice?

Did you catch her on Radio 2 last night? I've not heard it all yet, but she did an awesome version of Damascus. Just her and a piano.

I think Geek Love is my favourite track off Fires. In fact, at the moment it may be my favourite track altogether.

I must be getting old, as all my favourites seem to be on Radio 2 these days :p
