Thanks. Here's my attempt at a Tunstallian lyric

YOU’RE NOT THE ONE FOR ME

I’m getting sick and tired
Of all the games you make me play
I’m caught up in the wire
Trying to make my great escape

I’m standing on my own
Underneath a cloud of rain
And I’m shivering to the bone
Gotta break away again

I used to think I wanted you
Now I’m lost and I’m confused
My heart is battered and it’s bruised
And the only thing that I can see
Is that you’re not the one for me

I’m wondering why on Earth
I fell in love with you at all
There’s nothing of it’s worth
To leave me up against the wall

I used to think that I loved you
But then you left and cut me loose
My heart is hanging from a noose
And now it’s clearly plain to see
That now you’re not the one for me

One of my friends said I should try and get my work published. Although, I don't know whether he was saying that from a critical point of view or simply because he's my friend.

You never really know if your friends genuinely like the stuff you've written do you?

Well, I like it. And I am not a great poetry fan.

You can always try and see, but not one of those "self publisher" thingies. If you want to throw money away, I'll have it.

CALL OFF THE SEARCH

As if by instinct we were brought to this place
Driven by an inner voice that would not be still
Never at rest even when sleeping
Always hungry especially when full
Unprepared for the pain of monotony
And slowly murdered by untouching hands
After lifetimes of looking we can finally rest
Call off the search,
We are here

poetry is a very subjective thing.

i love all kinds of poetry, but ur right mediamonkey it is a subjective thing.

See it through

When you’re up against a trouble
Meet it squarely, face to face
Lift your chin and set your shoulders
Plant your feet and take a brace
When it’s vain to try and dodge it
Do the best you can do
You may fail, but you may conquer
Just see it through

Black may be the clouds around you
And your future may seem grim
But don’t let your nerve desert you
Keep yourself in fighting trim
If the worse is bound to happen
In spite of all that you can do
Running from it will not save you
Just see it through

Even hope may seem so futile
When with troubles you’re beset
But remember you are facing
Just what other men have met
You may fail, but still fall fighting
Don’t give up whatever you do
Eyes front, head high to the finish
Just see it through

I think that's the best poem you've posted so far Gaza. It's cool.

Thanks, I wouldn't know where to start when it came to getting stuff published. I mean, who would you send it to?

Good question. Have your lecturers seen any of your poetry ? They might have ideas. Other than that. If there is a poetry book that you think is similar to your sort of poems, then that publisher might be interested. And I think there is a catalogue of all publishers and what they are looking for, but I have no idea of what it is called, or where you would find it. Uni library perhaps?

I'll probably try and find this publisher list. As for showing my work to lecturers, I'm far too shy to do that.

Cool, Is it T.S Eliot? I'm only joking, that's really great actually. I'm already bound to a promise to dedicate my first published book to them.
