Finally caught KT in Osaka and Nagoya, the shows that were postponed from March/April because of the tragic earthquake and tsunami.

Unlike her Osaka debut three years ago where the audience was in a rather sedate mode (although KT commented that she appreciated the Japanese attitude to "listen", especially when it came to quieter songs), this time they were rowdy and responsive at their best, and KT looked like she enjoyed the performance herself and loved every minute of it! At the end of the main part of the set, she praised the audience, out aloud, "You are SO amazing!!!"

Although she made an off-the-cuff joke, "I wish I had a microchip implanted in my head and spoke Japanese" (which won a big laughter from the crowd), her honesty and unpretentious personality certainly transcended the language barrier and went down well with the audience.

On encore, KT made a cheerful and heart-felt speech related to the ongoing disaster over here. Then she shouted proudly, "This is for Japan!", and launched into a rockin' and stompin' version of Suddenly I See that concluded the show. A good time was had by all.

Nagoya, the following day, the same story, basically, except that the venue and the sound were better. The air-conditioning worked here, while In Osaka, the place was hot and KT was covered in sweat, which seemed to (literally) add heat to the performance somehow.
My only gripe is that the set-list was identical both nights, which I hoped she mixed up a little bit. Wish I could hear Still A Weirdo that she performed in Tokyo at a later date.

Hopefully KT, the band and the stuff have left Japan safely today when the big typhoon is approaching these shores. :smt039

Ooh! And it looks like it's gonna be Little Favours in 'front of stage'-style. Nice!

I would imagine the setlist is limited to the songs that Charlotte and Rej know well. But I guess KT could mix it up with some solo stuff but then some of her regular songs would have to be removed and that might not go over well with an audience that does not get to see her live very often.
