Hi boys and girls,

I've noticed (and received a few comments from users) that a LOT of threads going off topic lately and rather than saying this in lots of threads, I've made this thread. Please avoid doing this as it becomes quite after a while.

If you want to ramble on about anything and everything, remember we do still have the "RANDOM" thread for that.

Cheers all. :)

Ah thanks for that Megs, I totally agree there's been too much going off topic lately. I know I'm guilty of it as well (and at times I just didn't really know what the point was anymore since nothing seems to be on topic lately), but shall try keep it under extra control!! I've just stopped reading lots of topics cause they really weren't any topics anymore so I didn't bother, so glad to have this general message here so I can post a bit more often again soon :)

Yeah it's been rather confusing lately. I've barely posted in the past few months (although I'm sure I'm guilty of going off topic a bit too), I usually don't know what's going on

Should this perhaps be a sticky for a while?

Weirdly enough we can't seem to manage to make it as a sticky... :smt017

So, until we do, I'm going to bump this thread from time to time :mrg:

Because clearly, as many of you have noticed, some off topics conversation have led many forumers to post less or be less active, which is a shame of course!
All the more that the Random thread isn't really used anymore

Most of us go off topic from time to time. I know I've done it recently because of the PM problem.

If we're all aware of how it affects others, that will help solve the problem.

Would it be off topic if a thread has been inactive for over two weeks? :smt017

That would mean 98% of this forum has gone off topic :? So: NO

There isn't as much activity as before. This almost makes me regret all the off topic conversations

I'm still trying to understand that rationale, that off topic conversations turn people off and they quit participating (leaving completely.) I'm not saying I don't think it occurs, just think that it's not a reason for a forum interest to dwindle. I see no evidence of this on any currently active web forums I participate. If KT was actively touring, or releasing material, I think the argument immediately goes away.

I meet up with a lot of people from here outside the forum and mostly what I'm told when I say "how come you don't post anymore?" I get "because it's just a lot of sh*t on there". It's not too bad now (because no-one posts at all ) but going into a topic that's just full of random crap that's nothing to do with the title does put people off.

I don't see what the problem is with sticking to certain topics for certain things.

Understood. I guess I'm just surprised that some people would be that sensitive to be put off by a bit of side banter. Seems to me if they were really interested in KT, they would have stuck around regardless, knowing full well we will be getting soundly spanked anyway.

I guess it comes down to this (and a point I was trying to make), there hasn't been much of anything KT to discuss lately. I'm seeing the age of some KT specific threads go beyond a month now, unheard of over the last 6 years. I feel compelled to just post some drivel in these threads, just to bump the date.

If you want to bump the topic, there's no reason why you can't add something that's actually relevant.

At this point, I'd welcome anything, no matter how off topic. :smt023
