What I see in the mirror: KT Tunstall
'I like that I have a boyish figure because I love wearing men's suits'

The way I feel about how I look changes daily, but as I've got older, I feel more confident. I'm happy with how I look at 37 – I am lucky to have Asian genes and I thank the hair gods for my hair.

I've got an undercut at the moment, which I really like. I had both sides of my head shaved a year ago and it's an easy haircut to have. The only thing is, you have to get it trimmed regularly or you end up with weird bushy fuzz, which isn't a good look. I've recently started to dye my hair because I am going grey.

I always thought I had a face like the moon, because I had really chubby cheeks when I was a kid, right up until my mid-20s. My face changed in my later 20s and again in my mid-30s. I recently got into boxing, which I adore, and that has affected my face shape again. It's more angular than it used to be.

I like dressing in an androgynous way, so I am grateful that I don't have a massive rack; that would be cumbersome, particularly as a guitarist. I like that I have a boyish figure, because I love wearing men's suits. I would be happy to live in a world with no mirrors, but at the same time, it's great to look good on stage because you feel you're offering more than just the music. And it feels good to be a female artist and have the opportunity to offer something different from basic tits and arse.

This is awesome. As a gal who's a couple of years older than KT, I share her POV on FINALLY feeling like you belong in your own skin as you get older. I'm more psyched about my upcoming 40th birthday than any others before it. :)

Thumbs up to her ability to honestly reflect.

Thumbs down to the undercut and hair die. She has beautifully natural hair and does not need to maintain it. Maybe guys see things differently.

Really? I LOVE the undercuts!! Wait till you've seen the 'Tucson Time' video, she looks especially amaaaazing in the parts where she's being interviewed on the stool, particularly the hair. Really cool, this woman's got style 8)

Could be a generational thing Kim. Undercuts and scalp shaves just look weird to me. :smt017

Hmm not necessarily generational I think (don't go and make yourself feel old!), I'm pretty sure my sister would say the exact same thing as you! It's just pretty far off mainstream, logic lots of people won't like it I'm sure. But who cares!

LOL, generally I think I hold myself well, except for waking up in the mornings (when age truly winds up being the dominant factor.)

It is.

I loathe the undercut. I used to dislike the blonde flicks she had around the DF time but I'd swap them in a heartbeat for the undercut to go away

And the thing about dyeing her hair, fair enough if she's going gray. I think 37 is far too young to 'just go with it'.

That makes a definite two of us. I'll even take the crooked fringe above the side shave!

Didn't know about boxing!

I don't want to talk about the undercut. I want to stay positive about KT
