This one's for a friend of mine whose wife miscarried on Christmas Eve. She's out of trouble now, healthwise, but they are badly affected by the loss of what would've been their firstborn.

So sorry to hear that, Nick. It hits close to home, as it's happened in my family.

Your friend is lucky to have a sympathetic friend like you to talk to.

Thoughts and prayers requested for my little buddy Scrappy, who I have to take to the vet in the morning for an ultrasound to figure out why fluid's been building up in his chest & stomach. (The worst-case scenarios have, thankfully, been mostly ruled out.)

My oldest brother passed away. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer about a month ago but I don't think it was related to that. His daughter found him and his dog lying inside his house when she went to visit. So far they don't know when or why. He lived by himself in central Oregon, somewhat remote area.

Don't know why, but Heal Over (soundstage) seemed right. Gonna miss him.

Edit: Police figure he had been dead about a week, no foul play.

Thanks Patty. Unfortunately, the ultrasound showed he's in heart failure and probably doesn't have much time left, even with medication.

Thanks, Cyn. He's not acting like he's in any pain, he still walks fine, easily jumps up on the bed, etc. He's barely been eating, though, so the vet's talked about trying an appetite stimulant.

Also sorry to hear about Scrappy Patrick. My old dog had heart failure too before we sent him to the big dog park in the sky, although that wasn't the reason why we sent him there (he couldn't get up using his hind legs in the end).

After hearing Scrappy letting out constant whimpers of pain last night, I made the hard choice to put him to sleep today, with my mom there for support.

Geez, that's awful about your brother Terry A whole week without anyone noticing it?! And what a trauma it must have been for your niece to find him...

And Patrick, sorry about your loss... Scrappy isn't suffering anymore that's what you should remember.
