My top listen today will be Under The Weather

Quote:
Cause I'm under the weather
Just like the world
And I need somebody to hold
When I turn out the light
You're out of sight
Although I know that I'm not alone
Feels like home

My thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected by this very sad event.

That's lovely.

I still get chills watching the 9/11 clips.

A truly sad day indeed. My thoughts go out to everyone. xx

The good thoughts from round the world mean a lot to us Yanks. It sometimes gets very tiring being the "last of the Super Powers". I wish our damn government could take a break and we could just be a regular neighbor in the world for awhile.

I worked in lower Manhattan for 17 yrs -- commuting in from New Jersey -- coming in under the Hudson River and going through the WTC's lobby levels twice a day. In my job I dealt with U.S. Customs who were in 6 WTC -- one of the lower buildings (6 floors?) next to the towers -- was over there filing forms and negotiating most days of the week. Every year a puppet troupe would set up in the lobby of the south tower for a few weeks prior to Christmas. I'd bring my sons to work on Christmas eve and we'd go over after lunch and watch the puppets. One of my strongest "pic in the mind" memories of my father-in-law is at the puppet show -- he's got my youngest son Aaron on his shoulders so he could see the show -- he was so proud of his grandsons.

Me and my family moved north to the state of Maine late in 1993. We jokingly tell people that we were fleeing after the WTC bombing that year, but we'd really set our move in motion before that. It was the almost 4 hours I spent commuting in and out of NYC every day that sparked our leaving.

I haven't been back to Manahattan since Sep 11, 2001. We make an annual trip down to the Baltimore area going down the New Jersey Turnpike past the city. It's all I can do not to burst out crying as we drive through the Meadowlands and I look to the left -- the NYC skyline is right there, the Chrysler Building, the Empire State ...and then a little further down to the south ...those two towers are really gone? ....

That morning 5 years ago, as I watched on TV, as the WTC collapsed, my first thought was "Where'll they have the puppet show?"

Sorry for going on. I've never written down any of this before. And if this thread, on this forum, isn't the right place, I'm sorry. But I think it is. I like to think that I'm among friends, if not family....

Peace! PLEASE!

Thankyou for sharing the sadness we all still feel about this tragic event, but, as the 3rd post of this thread states, this is for reflection and not for political comment. If you wish to elaborate on your friend's theory, probably
Chit-chat and Randomness would be a more appropriate place for such a discussion.

Thankyou.

ADMIN EDIT Thank you Colin. I have edited the posts accordingly

I can't believe it's been six years. Sigh.

My thoughts and prayers go out to my fellow countrypeople today.
