26 years ago today Mark Chapman seeked out his 'hero' John Lennon, to get him to sign a copy of Lennon's Latest Album.
Lennon obliged however later in the day Chapman remained outside Lennon's New York apartment and late at night when he returned he fired his gun, murdering John. This mindless act meant that the Rock n Roll world lost arguably its greatest ever member, the founding member of The Beatles and an all round genius.

However all was not lost, as through his legacy John will never be forgotten, not now, not ever, as he will Live Forever.

John Lennon: Rock n Roll Legend, Rest in Peace, Live Forever

Twenty Six years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday. To cause such sadness, for no reason.

I absolutely adore John Lennon (thanks for reminding us of his anniversary Andy) and still find it heartbreaking to think of Chapman, and his selfish, wicked reasons for murdering John.

He was no angel, but his mind was explosive & really put today's "stars" such as Bono truly in the shade.

God bless you John......sorely missed.

Missed this till now. I was born 7 years after he passed on, and I still think that he summed up what it's all about when he said:

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one.

I still marvel at the music/words which John wrote. How he was able to connect with so many people in such simple, yet beautiful, ways, I will never understand. A proper one-off!

Kristelle played very well "Imagines" with the piano.

My daughter thus wanted a piano like her godmother.

Very moving story. At the same time, it's a testament to the lasting power of the human spirit. John Lennon passed away in 1980, yet so many years later, people are still playing his music. I think that Kristelle will be remembered in the same way.

"Those who went before
Why are they remembered?
They held our hands
And sang us songs
Lived life till they were gone
But Not Forgotten"

Beautiful song, and I bet even more beautiful when played by someone you love.
