Aye - its the perception in myself that I'm actually crap at it (even though I've been in a band - that had gigs).

Stand me up in 50-200 people who I don't know at all - not a problem. put me in a room with a handful of people who I do know (no matter how slightly) and I hardly touch a guitar for fear of doing something wrong :?

I taught myself to play at about 18 on a battered old electric. Since then, I've had 3 acoustic guitars.

About 10 years ago I bought a short register electric precision bass, 'cos we were going to form a band - Geoff on rhythm, Pauline on keyboards, Brian on drums and Kath on vocals - but it didn't work out.

I swapped the bass for an ordinary electric. So now I've got one acoustic and one electric guitar, but I haven't touched either for about 5 years. (My finger pads have gone all soft and it would probably be painfull to start again! I was never much good anyhow. :smt035

I began to play guitar during june ( since not a long time  :p )
Even if i'm not at all....really really not at all the most talented:lol: , I really like to play it and I need to have at least 1 hours or more to play guitar per day.
and I wish that I could be better one day...*sigh*
Oh and the only guitar that I have for the moment is a classical one...but I really want an acoustic!! ^^

I started teaching myself two summer holidays ago on my mum's accoustic which she's had since she was my age and I've now re-strung it with steel strings, killed my fingers, lost sensation in ends of fingers, peeled the dead bits off and now the pain has started again :( I love it though - it's good being able to pick something up and play it. Great satisfaction!

all very interesting!
me I am 49 years old and started playing 3 years ago. I love my Martin 000. Got a Les Paul vintage mahog for Christmas, still trying to play electric.

What do you all play (gear-wise)?

I have a Gibson J-180 EC, a Sigma DM-4B dreadnought, and a Martin D-15. I used to have several electrics, but I sold them when I was a bit down on my luck a few years ago. Played a lot this weekend, actually! I've been playing for nearly 17 years. Eeek!

Yep. For as long or longer than some of you have been alive, probably! I started playing when I was 17, so I've literally been playing for half of my life. Yikes!
