On the one hand, makes me sad when acts of the calibre of KT are reduced to getting their music released independently. But then the industry's lost the plot completely anyway, so maybe it's for the best! Suzanne Vega does the same after all, and even Lissie's left the big corporations for album #3.

A label is most useful when you're not heard of.
After that, the politics and stuff could get tiring. Ke$ha might have an opinion on that.

It's not like KT and the ilk you mentioned couldn't get a deal elsewhere later on. Pretty sure Trent Reznor went self-releasing then back to a major.

Interesting. I had stumbled across the pledgemusic link from, I think, KT's Twitter, and had sort of narrowed my eyes and come to the same conclusion (independent label) -- and went ahead and pre-ordered, of course! :smt023

Too bad in a way, and just fine in a way. Sounds like KT is happy in LA, even though I always thought of her as an Edinburgh (or at least NYC) kinda girl.

I am quite looking forward to it. Pre ordered when the link went up. I think releasing albums in different ways can create a buzz around it, which can be beneficial.
